Hellerau c’est quoi ?

Dans la première cité-jardin allemande, à Dresde-Hellerau, l'architecte Heinrich Tessenow a construit en 1911 le Festspielhaus pour le rythmicien suisse Jacques-Dalcroze. Ce bâtiment était une alternative visionnaire aux théâtres traditionnels de l'époque.

Cette utopie n'a toutefois duré que trois ans. Les deux guerres mondiales et l'occupation soviétique qui a suivi ont profondément transformé les lieux.

La visite guidée en français vous fera découvrir l'histoire de ce bâtiment, redevenu aujourd'hui un lieu dédié aux arts. Chaque année, environ 350 événements y sont organisés dans les domaines de la danse, de la musique, du théâtre, de la performance, des arts médiatiques et des arts plastiques.

In 1911, architect Heinrich Tessenow built the Festspielhaus for Swiss rhythmician Jacques-Dalcroze in Dresden-Hellerau, Germany's first garden city. The building was a visionary alternative to the traditional theater buildings of the time.

But this utopia lasted only three years. The two world wars and the subsequent Soviet occupation changed the place dramatically.

This French guided tour lets you experience the history of the building, which is now once again a space for the arts. Every year, around 350 events take place here in the genres of dance, music, theater, performance, media art, and visual arts.

• Meeting point: Visitor Centre HELLERAU on the Festspielhaus site, western side building.
• Cost: 9 € per person, 6 € reduced for students/pupils, 4 € for children up to 14 years.
• The tour can only take place with a minimum number of 15 participants.
