Explosive ordnance sounding at the Carola Bridge

Possible evacuation required on 10 or 11 March 2026

Dear guests of the Tanzplattform Deutschland 2026,

during the demolition of the Carola Bridge, which collapsed in 2024, several unexploded bombs from the Second World War were discovered in recent months. A new investigation has recently revealed further suspected cases.

For this reason, two suspected explosive ordnance sites must be examined on Tuesday, 10 March. If unexploded bombs are found during the investigation, it will be necessary to defuse them on 10 and/or 11 March, possibly involving the evacuation of large parts of the city centre.

All information from the state capital of Dresden can be found here, including the evacuation area, the citizens' information hotline and the list of affected facilities: www.dresden.de/bombe

Programme of the Tanzplattform Deutschland 2026

As things stand, the festival productions are not affected. Should defusing with evacuation become necessary, this may have an impact on our programme at the Staatsschauspiel/Kleines Haus.

"Songs of the Wayfarer" by Claire Cunningham will be performed there on 11 March. Should there be any deviations, we will inform you here on 10/11 March.

Ticket purchasers for this performance will also receive information by email on 11 March.

Accommodation in the evacuation area

Professionals and other guests who have booked accommodation in the evacuation radius should contact their accommodation directly if they have any questions. All affected hotels and guesthouses can be found in this list.

DVB timetable changes

Should an evacuation become necessary, there will be changes to the Dresden public transport timetable. Please inform yourself about these changes at www.dvb.de, allow sufficient time for your journey and use the S-Bahn in the city centre.

Current information

We will inform you here about changes to the programme and other possible effects on the festival.
