How do we relate to "self-censorship" in relation to our context and environment? What role does the system that censors desires play? For "Whispered Dreams", the Iranian theatre maker Fariborz Karimi collaborates with the Tehran-based actress and author Mona A. The project expresses the friendship, transnational collaboration and dreams of the two in the form of letters. In an Open Studio on 31 August at 16:00, he provided insights into his research.
Biography

Fariborz Karimi is a theatre maker, performer and author based in Amsterdam. After completing his bachelor's degree in directing and acting at the University of Tehran (2013), he graduated with a master's degree in "DAS Theatre" from the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in 2023. His work moves between reality and dream and combines autobiographical narratives with sound, text and video. His graduation piece "Oh, Wild Gazelle, Where are you?" (2023) was nominated for the "AHK Graduation Awards". In Iran, he co-founded the "Bohemi Theatre Collective" and developed plays such as "Rabbit Hole" (2014) and "Medea" (2016-2018). International performances have taken him to the "ITs Festival" (Amsterdam), "ACT Bilbao" (Spain) and "Bozar" (Brussels), among others.
