"While I decay"
As soon as a body dies, decomposition begins immediately. A few minutes after the heart has stopped beating, the death process begins with the self-digestion of the cells. A decomposing human body is by no means "dead", but teeming with life; it is the cornerstone of a huge and complex ecosystem. The dancer Helén Tamaskó explores the process of decomposition through a somatic, permanent investigation of movement. She asks herself: "How can I decompose while dancing? How can we collectively decompose ourselves in a performance context?"
The residency is taking place as part of the "Nebenan/Mellettünk - Independent Art from Hungary" festival. In cooperation with the Workshop Foundation - a platform for international residencies and co-productions in Budapest - three residency projects by young dance and performance artists from the independent scene in Hungary were selected.
