"RAW quakes"

During their residency, performers Haibo Illés & Richárd Melykó will work on the project "RAW quakes", a research-based performance that examines the effects of earthquakes on theatre, especially on buildings and their aesthetics, from a theoretical approach. The significance of the theatre as a safe space, but also its fragility and unpredictability are addressed. The work on the earthquake in a cultural-political context is situated at the interface between performative use of space and lecture performance.

The residency is part of the "Nebenan/Mellettünk - Independent Art from Hungary" festival. In cooperation with the Workshop Foundation - a platform for international residencies and co-productions in Budapest - three residency projects by young dance and performance artists from the independent scene in Hungary were selected.
