Bibata Ibrahim Maïga is a dancer, actress and young choreographer born in Gao, Mali. As the director and founder of the B-z'Art move centre and the association I dance'O, she has been organising training activities for professional dancers, children and young people in Bamako, Mali, since 2018. She completed her dance and choreography training at the Ècole des Sables in Dakar in 2017. Her piece "Esprit Bavard" deals with the spirit of the individual, which is restricted by social norms, traditions and religions. The pressure of society prevents individuals from being themselves. Dance deconstructs the walls built by the ancestral past that suffocate the individual. It attempts to liberate those who feel trapped in the world that has already been created.

Together with the choreographers and dancers Asanda Ruda and Tchina Ndjidda, Bibata Ibrahim Maiga took part in the residency programme of HELLERAU as the winner of the fourth edition of the "Africa Simply the Best" festival. "Africa Simply the Best" is a dance platform initiated by choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly and a competition for solo performances. This pan-African cultural event, which promotes creativity, innovation and originality, honours the best African solo choreographers every two years.
