During the residency in HELLERAU, dancer and choreographer Alice Heyward will work on the project "Brigid". The performance will explore the mythological figure of the Banshee - a female spirit of Irish folklore who announces the death of a family member with her cry - to speculate on death, grief, fear and the supernatural in contemporary contexts. "Brigid" works to evoke different levels of presence, attention, connection and emotion through the vocal and mythical performances of the banshee. It seeks to explore never-ending cries that are moulded into voluminous, ever-changing spaces of grief in relation to conceptual, physical and sonic material.
