The Goethe-Institut Montreal, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Le Vivier – Carrefour des musiques nouvelles, and HELLERAU organize an annual residency exchange between Germany and Québec. As part of this exchange, one composer from Québec is selected each year for a two-month residency at HELLERAU.

This year, composer and sound designer Estelle Schorpp will be in residence at HELLERAU from October through November 2026. Her residency project involves the conception and development of a new immersive algorithmic performance that focuses on exploring the acoustic and psychoacoustic properties of sound, as well as their spatial realization through real-time multichannel spatialization. The project is a direct continuation of Estelle’s current artistic approach, which she developed in her album “In My Ears (for Maryanne)” – released in 2024 on the LINE label – and at the same time opens a new cycle of research that focuses more strongly on the perception, hearing, and spatial experience of sound in a performative context.
