In October and November, HELLERAU presents four new dance pieces by Saxon artists featuring international casts—three of which are premieres.
The Sebastian Weber Dance Company brings a dazzling concert performance to the stage with “Glitz.” With a large cast, live music, and boundless energy, the company celebrates the culture of the night: a tribute to the power of pop. With “Augen auf, Augen zu”, Anna Till/situation productions addresses existential questions of life. In an intimate yet universal choreography, dancers Brit Rodemund and Simone Gisela Weber explore the processes of aging. Miller de Nobili, winner of the 2025 Dresden Sponsorship Award, takes on the digital space in their premiere “Hype the Pain”. Between breaking, urban styles, and contemporary dance, an explosive mosaic emerges that makes the mechanisms of social media physically tangible: How much do digital images shape our perception—and how much do we shape them? Finally, “The Seas Between Us” by Polymer DMT/Fang Yun Lo weaves personal biographies with geopolitical tensions. The duet by dancers Chou Shu-Yi and Lee Mun Wai opens a dialogue about belonging, memory, and the fragile relationship between Taiwan, China, and the world.
