Noa Eshkol

Noa Eshkol (1924–2007) is internationally renowned as a choreographer and co-creator – alongside the architect Avraham Wachman – of the innovative Eshkol-Wachman Movement Notation (EWMN). This written system draws on the universal language of geometry to document and analyse the movement of individual limbs with scientific precision. A lesser-known aspect of Eshkol’s work was the creation of so-called ‘tapestries’ – colorful textile compositions made from recycled fabric remnants, which form a counterpart to her minimalist choreographies. This is the first time that the works of this prolific artist have been presented at the Festspielhaus HELLERAU. The exhibition features a selection of tapestries and archive materials from the Noa Eshkol Foundation for Movement Notation in Holon.
