Fast Forward

Fast Forward is a European theater festival for young directors. Every November, the festival presents four days of productions from across Europe by artists who are just starting out on their careers as directors. The aim is to showcase the diversity of contemporary theater, offer a platform for young European talent, and provide audiences with a place for discovery. Each year, an international jury awards a festival prize to one of the invited productions.

In 2025, in cooperation with HELLERAU – European Center for the Arts, the prize will consist of an invitation to a working residency in Dresden. There is also a youth jury and an audience award.

Fast Forward was founded in 2011 at the Staatstheater Braunschweig and has been held at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden since 2017, with 2025 marking its 15th edition.
