The HELLERmoves Workshop "Monstrous Counter-Narratives" proposes a space for collective exploration and creation around gender performativity, drag art as a life technology, and the power of fiction and movement as a critical tools to imagine and inhabit other ways of existence.

The session is structured in three parts: an initial, more discursive moment, where conceptual frameworks and personal experiences related to drag practice are shared; followed by two practical sections that invite participants to write and share their own narratives through a drag biomythography exercise and a collective lipsync improvisation.

From a situated transfeminist perspective, the encounter revolves around a central question: how can we hack structures of power through the transformative potential of drag art? The aim is to offer tools to dismantle normative mandates over bodies and affections, activating fictions that work as engines for reimagining the possible. We start from the idea that writing new versions of our stories can become a radical pact of imagination with ourselves and our collective.

In November, M0nster.L4b will be in residence at HELLERAU as part of the three-year EU exchange program “Moving Identities”
