A “lean back” to head-nodding beats: the Dresden rapper La Ray spreads good vibes with her music in a charming and relaxed manner. But there is more behind this feel-good boom-bap than just a permanent grin in a hammock. La Rey tells personal stories, admits fears and vulnerabilities and does not shy away from addressing the big issues in society and politics.

La Rey is a rapper and singer from Dresden and has stood for empowering, positive hip-hop since 2021. Her music moves between profound and danceable, personal and political. She performs solo, with DJ Miss Hyde and backup rapper KeemiKaze, with the trio The Beatexplorers or with the Dresden brass band Banda Comunale. Musically, she combines boom-bap influences with modern, electronic and acoustic elements. Initial successes in online battles and open mics were followed by support gigs for Waving the Guns and Gossenboss with Zett, among others. her debut EP “EINSZWONSECHZIG” was released in 2023. In addition to concerts, she is involved in rap and songwriting workshops for children and young people. She is working on the EP “Self Reminder” for 2025.
