Die Quittung sings about the absurdities of our present day. Self-optimisation disguised as self-realisation, performance-oriented competition, switching off one's own brain and the general stagnation of the present. The receipt is both funky and jazzy, sometimes poppy, but the content is clearly more punk, just not quite as angry. A little tidier, nicely bathed and wrapped in a fluffy bathrobe.

Press reviews

  • “Die Quittung cavorts between weirdo indie and dazzling glam alternative in strange, slightly poppy songs....” (Kai M$ller, Tagesspiegel)
  • “Einfrieren" is a stylistically balanced pop album by the Leipzig band “Die Quittung”. Their lyrics focus on the present... The gesture is rather punk, rumbled and cleanly played, garnished with a guitar solo." (Tabea KGbler, Taz)

Biography

Die Quittung is the solo project of Leipzig-based multi-instrumentalist Josen Bach. Josen always finds a great self-deprecating approach to the lifestyle of a musician in the year 2025, surrounded by hyperpop kids and TikTok creators. In his videos, he prefers to present himself as a sleazy business consultant and online demagog rather than falling for one himself! “Watched the wrong film 10 years too many, thought about it 100 times! light the fire 1000x again! And keep on dreaming...The lyrics are always just a mirror of everything that happens. Look at it, absorb it, start writing and you're done (everyone knows that a bit)." Well, the lyrics aren't as rushed as claimed here
