“Dreamachine” emerged from a collaboration between sound artist Estelle Schorpp and video artist Charline Dally and translates the fleeting sensation of drifting into an audiovisual experience. The work is based on archival footage recorded on DV tapes of the Shinkansen Express and the Hong Kong Railway, which merges with analog video feedback, field recordings, and shimmering drone textures to form a continuously flowing landscape. Algorithmically modulated image and sound processes dissolve fixed perspectives and create a mysterious space. Hovering between movement, memory, and reverie, “Dreamachine” explores how technologies transform our experiences of distance, landscape, and travel.
