Open Studio & Workshop: Victor Artiga
Artist-in-Garden-Residency
Victor Artiga Rodriguez is a multidisciplinary artist and art mediator. During his two-week artist-in-garden residency at HELLERAU’s Kulturgarten in June, he will be working on the project ‘Thoughts on Fluid Assemblages’. Within the project, he is investigating the state of water sources and the effects of their pollution on the bodies of humans and non-humans, focussing on the effects of agrochemical pesticides in the soil.
Victor Artiga Rodriguez will share his research in a workshop at the end of the residency. The workshop invites participants to feel and reflect on their relationship with their bodies. It will involve working with a series of micro-interventions in the garden and using a score developed on site.
There is a short introduction into the practice of score making and their use in performances. We will later engage in a careful observation of the flowers, plants, water, insects that inhabit the cultural garden. With this as inspiration, we will develop a garden score that explores ways of connecting our bodies with the surroundings. We will play with the idea of improvisation, and bring slight body movements, as well as sounds as small performative actions.
Anyone curious about the notion of ecologies, sound and body movements is welcome to join. No prior knowledge is required – suitable for adults and children. Please bring comfortable clothes and water.
