The Spanish percussionist Lucía Martínez realised early on during courses in traditional Galician percussion how much power and sound there is behind percussion. This was followed by a degree in classical percussion, another in jazz percussion and composition, and finally film music. All of this is mixed together in her music: Galicia meets flamenco, jazz meets improvisation. And she goes further – experimenting with everyday objects, exploding classical percussion in all directions. What remains? Rhythm that goes straight to the heart.
