While others were unlearning how to play music with the recorder, Zola Mennenöh discovered her love of music. Classical flute led her to jazz, and from there she went in all kinds of different directions: Folk, avant-garde, sound experiments. Her voice floats through spaces, her music sounds like a dream of gentle layers and shimmering sounds. The audience that has made the pilgrimage to the Weinberg will hear first-hand how much her travels to China, Senegal, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Estonia have influenced her songs! This Feature Ring will be quiet, intense and beautiful.

For the Feature Ring on September 6, Zola Mennenöh has conceived new works under the title “Celestial Bodies”, which will be performed together with Eren Solak, Felix-Otto Jacobi and Demian Kappenstein in a metaphysical-magical live performance in the Weinbergkirche “Zum Heiligen Geist” Dresden-Pillnitz. In preparation for this special evening, the artist deals with questions of existence, being, reality and things that cannot be perceived with the senses. She investigates how we can come into contact, receive and exchange with entities, spirits and forces of the invisible. In “Celestial Bodies” we ourselves become the object of knowledge transfer between the worlds and alchemists of our experience, in the here and now and in the hereafter.
