Be Mobile Create Together

“Be Mobile Create Togehter” is a new multinational and multidisciplinary artist residency program of four cultural institutions in Turkey. We are pleased to welcome the following artists residencies:

Gizem Aksu (Spring 2020): The choreographer and dancer deals with the different qualities of feelings and creates an archive of imaginary and performative manifestations of feelings. During her residency in HELLERAU, she will explore how feelings change, how they affect the body, and how these changes can be read in a particular socio-political and cultural dynamic.

Melih Kıraç (Spring 2020): The dancer and performer tests contemporary dance techniques, improvisation and develops multidisciplinary approaches in his works. Since 2011 he is a member of the collective Çıplak Ayaklar Kumpanyası, an independent dance collective that organizes performances and workshops for a local dance community. During her stay at the residence, Melih Kiraç wants to compare production conditions and thus question her own artistic practice.

“Be mobile – Create Together” will host artists from different countries in the following artist residencies:

  • in Germany HELLERAU – European Centre of the Arts (Dresden), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin) and Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart)
  • in France Camargo Foundation (Cassis), La Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris) and Le Cube (Issy-les-Moulineaux)

The residence programs will host a total of 30 artists – 15 from Turkey and 15 from France, Germany and the Netherlands. The aim of the residence is to give the artists the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding and insight into the local culture, to engage with the local art scene, to make contacts, exchange ideas, gain inspiration and carry out an artistic project as well as to research, work and produce with other artists in the countries they visit.

The residence covers all costs related to travel, accommodation and production.
