Meg Stuart / Damaged Goods violet
19/10 €
Violet is not only Meg Stuart’s most recent work, it is also a new kind of work. Neither narrative nor theatrical, it is purely movement and music. Stuart arranges her dancers in an unusually abstract manner as carriers of movement and energetic patterns in space. They translate physics into human movement. Energy is the driving force for change, development, acceleration and resistance. The impressive interplay of the movement and the live music by Brendan Dougherty reaches a level of intensity which is sometimes hard to bear. Violet is loud, violent and intense.
Dancer and choreographer Meg Stuart lives in Brussels and Berlin. Her works have been a defining influence on the international contemporary dance scene since the 90s. Stuart has received several awards for her work including the most important German theatre award DER FAUST, the Bessie Award and the Flemish Culture Award.
