William Forsythe’s ‘classic’ choreographies form a cornerstone of the Semper Opera Ballett’s repertoire. Here the company dedicates an entire evening to the choreographer and his work. Enemy in the Figure, graphically illuminated by a single spotlight, is one of Forsythe’s most visually impressive works. His ongoing exploration of the theme of perception is documented in Artifact Suite, set to Johann Sebastian Bach’s Chaconne from Partita No. 2 for Solo Violin in D minor, in which the stage curtain repeatedly tumbles down, allowing the protagonists’ dancing to continue in the mind’s eye of the viewer. Highpoints of the homage will be the Slingerland pas de deux and Fünf Duos (working title), a suite of Pas de deux from various Forsythe works.
