Chaya Czernowin (IL) zu Gast bei ensemble courage (DE)

Musik online

Chaya Czernowin, one of the most important and influential music theater composers of our time at the portrait concert. The concert is hosted by ensemble courage, a Dresden ensemble with a strong connection to the origins of the Dresden Contemporary Music Days.

The process of unveiling represents a central concept for Chernovin’s work. For example, the piece Ayre: Towed through plumes, thicket, asphalt, sawdust and hazardous air I shall not forget the sound of is a small window through which one looks as through a microscope to see what makes the smallest things move. In the unusually cast Sahaf, Czernowin playfully deals with physical laws and their physical implementation. In addition to the duo Knights of the strange, the solo Ina for bass flute and tape will be heard.

Tip! Talk and Concert Sarah Nemtsov | HfM Dresden

Sarah Nemtsov’s music is often informed by her engagement with literature (Walter Benjamin, Paul Celan, Edmond Jabès, Emily Dickinson, W.G. Sebald, Mirko Bonné, and others), and many of her recent works also explore the threshold between concert and music theater. Her works have been performed at many internationally renowned festivals, including Donaueschinger Musiktage, Ultraschall, ISCM World New Music Festival, Wien Modern, MUSICA Strasbourg, SPOR Festival (Aarhus).

In a portrait concert at the Dresden University of Music and in a conversation with Prof. Jörn-Peter Hiekel, she will be a guest at TONLAGEN – 30th Dresden Contemporary Music Days, alongside Chaya Czernowin.
